[nndnh] What does AC and damage reduction mean in this variant?

In my notnotdNethack game I have to sort my loot and drop some
inferior pieces of armor. I have crystal plate and elven mithril.
Inspecting the 'AC' values and the "damage reduction" information
I get this data and wonder what AC and damage reduction actually
means in this variant; a higher damage reduction but a worse AC ?

Lower Body Armor: 1
Hand Armor: 4

Any explanation for that?

I enchanted my gloves and my shield both from +3 to +5 and have now

the uncursed large barded +6 Soulmirror (being worn) {224}
a blessed greased +5 dragonhide cloak (being worn) {35}
a blessed large +5 dragonhide pair of gloves (being worn) {46}
a blessed large barded rustproof greased +5 helm of drain resistance
(being worn) {60}
a blessed large +5 gray dragon scale shield (being worn) {150}
a blessed large barded +5 Hawaiian shirt (being worn) {10}

But the damage reduction did not increase, it's still (unchanged)

Head Armor: 10
Upper Body Armor: 11-26
Lower Body Armor: 11-23
Hand Armor: 11
You have no feet; shots hit lower body.

Is it meaningless [in notnotdNethack] to enchant armor further at
some point?
